BUOYAPPLY
Privacy Policy & Terms of Service
November 2, 2026
PART I — PRIVACY POLICY
1. Scope and information we process
BuoyApply provides job-application assistance, including applicant profiles, form checks, connected employer sign-ins, and subscription services. We process information you provide, such as contact information, employment history, qualifications, application responses, and job preferences; information from application forms and connected employer systems; account and security records; and subscription and payment-related records. We process this information to provide requested services, maintain security, prevent misuse, manage billing, and comply with applicable law.
2. Application Form Check
When you use Form Check, BuoyApply may inspect application forms, job descriptions, required fields, and relevant Applicant Profile information to identify missing information, potential inconsistencies, and questions requiring your attention. To do this, BuoyApply loads the employer's public application page, read-only, to see which fields it has and whether BuoyApply can complete them. Form Check does not send your information to the employer or to AI providers. Form Check is an assistance feature, not a guarantee that every error or employer requirement will be identified. We do not intentionally submit unsupported personal claims as established facts.
3. Employer sign-ins and credentials
When you authorize a connection to an employer application system, BuoyApply may store the credentials or authentication tokens needed to perform authorized activities. Stored credentials and tokens are encrypted at rest and access is restricted to systems and personnel that require them for the service. Saved passwords are never shown again, exported, or written to logs. BuoyApply does not yet use stored sign-ins to apply; when that becomes available, it will use them only for applications you approve. You may disconnect an employer account or request deletion of associated credentials. Credentials are not retained after they are no longer needed, except where a specific legal or security obligation requires otherwise.
4. Trial eligibility identifier
To enforce a one-trial-per-person rule and reduce repeated trial abuse, BuoyApply creates and retains a cryptographic identifier derived from the email address used for a trial (after ignoring letter case and common alias variations). The identifier may be retained after the associated account is deleted. It is used for trial eligibility and abuse prevention, not advertising. A hashed identifier can remain personal information under applicable law, and we handle it accordingly. We keep it for 24 months from the date the trial was granted and then delete it.
5. Billing and payments
Payment information is processed through our payment provider, Stripe. BuoyApply may receive transaction identifiers, subscription status, charges, billing dates, and refund records. We use this information to administer paid services, support customers, detect fraud, and comply with accounting and legal obligations. BuoyApply does not receive or store your full card number; Stripe handles card details.
6. Retention and deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information. We delete or de-identify data that is no longer needed, subject to applicable law and limited exceptions for security, fraud prevention, disputes, billing, and recordkeeping. The trial eligibility identifier may be kept after account deletion, for up to 24 months from the date the trial was granted, as described above. Deletion of a BuoyApply account does not necessarily delete information previously submitted to an employer; you must contact that employer regarding its own records.
7. Service providers and security
We share information with service providers only as needed for hosting, application assistance, AI processing where used, account security, and billing, subject to applicable contractual and legal safeguards. Our service providers include Render (hosting), Stripe (payments), IONOS (email delivery: invitations, password resets and account notices), and, only when AI assistance is turned on, MiniMax (AI processing; see section 8). We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure.
8. AI assistance (optional)
AI assistance is off unless BuoyApply has enabled it for the service and you turn it on in your preferences. You can turn it off at any time. When it is on, BuoyApply uses MiniMax (operated by Nanonoble Pte. Ltd., Singapore; MiniMax states that data is stored in the United States) to assess how well your experience matches a job and to suggest draft wording you can accept or reject.
When it is on, we send MiniMax: your resume text (which can include contact details printed on it), the Evidence Bank facts you confirmed, profile fields such as years of experience, certifications, education, employment history, industries, skills and clearance, the text of job postings, and the wording (not your answers) of questions you have saved answers for. We do not send your saved answer values, demographic (EEO) answers, passwords, MFA data or payment information.
9. Your choices and contact
You may update account information, disconnect employer accounts, cancel a subscription, and request access to or deletion of your personal information, subject to applicable law. Contact: hello@withbuoy.com. Additional jurisdiction-specific privacy rights will be honored where applicable.
PART II — TERMS OF SERVICE
1. Acceptance and service description
By creating an account or using BuoyApply, you agree to these Terms. BuoyApply provides tools to review application forms, manage applicant information, and assist with authorized job applications. We may update these Terms with notice as required by law.
2. Your information and application responsibility
You must provide accurate information and keep your Applicant Profile reasonably current. You authorize BuoyApply to use your supplied information and approved responses for requested application activities. You are responsible for reviewing material information and for the accuracy of submissions made on your behalf. BuoyApply may pause an application when information is missing, unverifiable, or subject to an employer restriction.
3. Connected employer accounts
By connecting an employer sign-in, you confirm that you are authorized to use that account and authorize BuoyApply to access it for your requested services. Do not supply another person’s credentials without authorization. We may suspend or disconnect an integration to protect security or comply with applicable requirements. Employer websites may impose their own terms and restrictions.
4. Form Check and automated assistance
Form Check and other automated features are informational and operational aids. They may miss requirements or make mistakes. We do not guarantee application acceptance, interviews, job offers, or employment. We may decline or pause automated activity when it would conflict with an employer’s restrictions or when the requested action lacks sufficient authorization.
5. Introductory trials
Introductory trials are limited to one per eligible user. Creating multiple accounts or using alternate email addresses to obtain additional trials is prohibited. We may retain a trial eligibility identifier after account deletion to enforce this rule. The free trial includes 5 applications, one time, with at most 3 applications per day. No payment card is required, and the trial does not convert to a paid plan automatically. You approve every application during the trial, and a trial application is counted only when the employer receives it.
6. Subscriptions, renewals, and cancellation
Prices and billing intervals are shown at checkout. Founding-member pricing, where offered, is kept for as long as your subscription stays active; if you cancel and subscribe again later, the price in effect at that time applies. If you select an automatically renewing subscription, you authorize recurring charges at the disclosed rate until cancellation. You may cancel at any time from Settings > Plan > Manage billing or cancel. Cancellation stops future renewals but does not automatically reverse completed charges. Where applicable law requires a different cancellation or renewal process, that law controls.
7. Refunds
You may request a full refund within 14 days of your first paid charge by contacting hello@withbuoy.com. The free trial does not start this period. Applicable statutory refund and cancellation rights override any conflicting policy.
8. Acceptable use and suspension
You may not misuse the service, attempt unauthorized access, submit fraudulent information, or circumvent trial limits. We may suspend access where reasonably necessary to address security threats, abuse, or material violations, subject to applicable law.
9. Service availability and limitations
We aim to provide reliable services but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability or compatibility with every employer application system. To the extent permitted by applicable law, services are provided without a guarantee of hiring outcomes. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Contact and legal notices
Service provider: Alpha Pearl Ventures. Contact: hello@withbuoy.com. Address: 600 S MacArthur Blvd, Coppell, TX 75019. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim in the courts where you live.
